Confiscation of illegal items: Teak, foodstuffs, industrial materials, consumer goods and vehicles

A combined team supervised by the Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force nabbed 10 kinds of goods worth K11.318 million including 100 jerricans of Ruby Prawn without official documents from an Isuzu Eif van (approximate value of K10 million) at the Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) checkpoint on 23 July. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, a combined team led by the respective district forest departments seized a total of 17.653 tonnes of illegal teak in Bago and Pyay districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
A combined on-duty team conducted inspections at the 4th-Milepost combined checkpoint on 24 July and captured six kinds of goods worth K7.578 million including eight cabinets of sterilizers and 1,974 Very Good nails without official documents from a Mitsubishi mini bus (estimated value of K12 million) heading to Taunggyi from Kengtung and 12 kinds of goods worth K25,622,750 including 1900 LCD phones and 150 boxes of Gongxiqiye hair straightening serum without official documents from a Jin Bei minibus (approximate value of K17 million) travelling from Muse to Taunggyi near the tollgate in Hopate village in Lashio township on 24 July. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Additionally, the on-duty teams impounded nine kinds of goods worth K8.545 million including 45 SK/NFGS batteries without official documents from a Nissan AD van (estimated value of K25 million) that was parked near Nanong village at the Yepu permanent checkpoint, four kinds of goods worth K4,991,261 including a Siemens semiotics SD low voltage motor and three Sidel blower machinery parts that exceeded the 61 days of VPA and 12.5 kilogrammes of CEO-brand coffee (worth K1.323 million) without Import Licence and FDA approval at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk), four kinds of goods (worth K29,983,800) including 400 Toki metal halide lamps that exceeded the quantity mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint and four kinds of goods worth K22,821,120 including micro server with battery charger and automatic microprocessor without official documents that were sent from Hong Kong to Yangon through EMS international delivery company on 24 July.
The action was taken under Customs procedures. A total of 17 arrests were made on 23 and 24 July, with an estimated value of K183,268,803, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
