Construction of a low-cost housing in Shwepyitha, one of Yangon’s suburban townships, is 60 per cent complete and the project is expected to be finished in March, according to the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).
The project was implemented the previous year.
It will have 192 apartment units, an official from the YCDC engineering department said.
“Those apartments will also be sold to the public at around K10 million each through a draw-lot system this year,” the official added.
But Ma Thuza, a company accountant, said that in her opinion the price of a low-cost apartment “should be lower than K10 million”.
The YCDC on Tuesday provided permission to buy condominium apartments to winners among applicants for the Shwemyara Condominium in Mingala Taungnyunt Township in Yangon.
Construction of this joint venture project between the YCDC and Ngapali Construction Co., Ltd is 80 per cent completed. It has 76 apartments at 2,203 sq ft and 2,683.5 sq ft, pricing out at K264.36 million and K322.02 million, according to the department.
The YCDC is also developing an “affordable housing” project in Dagon Seikkan Township in Yangon, which will be sold at more than K20 million each.
It also has a plan to develop additional housing in the future.–GNLM
