Bogale local coconuts are being continuously ordered from Pyay and Tachilek in addition to Yangon, according to the sources from coconut market.
Coconut is produced mainly in the rainy season in Bogale township and two most-ordered brands are penan coconut and pwe coconut.
“Coconuts are ordered from Yangon, Pyay, and Tachilek. We get more orders from there. This is the time when the coconuts are in high production. Brands depend on the order. Most people order large and middle-sized coconuts. We have to deal for the convenience of traders. We sell at negotiated prices. Some order only large ones, some buy both large and middle-sized ones. We get most orders for penan and pwe brands,” said a coconut farmer in Bogale township.
Coconut production varies depending on the weather, and Ayeyawady region has the highest production of coconut while Bogale’s coconuts are mainly ordered from Yangon in summer for taking its juice.
“The fruiting rate of coconut is not very high if there is less rain. There are also many damages caused by rats. The coconuts are produced a lot in Bogale and other areas such as Pyapon, Pathein and Mawkyun in Ayeyawady region. Now it is the season of abundant coconuts. People in Yangon usually take coconut juice in summer,” he said.
