A coordination meeting over the maintenance of the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Singuttara Hill was held at 1.30 pm yesterday at the Ancient Buddha Images Pavilion (Tazaung) of the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon.
Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko said that measures are to be taken for the maintenance of the pagoda and its Singuttara Hill, in cooperation with experts, officials concerned and members of the board of trustees.
Then, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein explained some facts about the pagoda and Deputy Minister for Construction U Kyaw Lin discussed the stages of maintenance of the Singuttara
Hill. Next, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Geologist Dr. Yu Maung and member of the board of trustees U Tin Hla discussed the maintenance tasks for the Shwedagon Pagoda and Singuttara Hill.
Later, regional ministers, officials and experts from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Myanmar Engineering Society and Yangon Heritage Trust (YHT) proposed matters regarding the work process. Following this, the union minister delivered the closing speech.
