A coordination meeting for the development of Myanmar motion pictures was held at the Information and Public Relations Department’s Motion Picture Development Unit, in Kokkine Avenue, Bahan Township, Yangon, yesterday morning.
Before the meeting, Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint inspected the small censor screening cinema, and renovated the film studio and outdoor shooting sites in the compound of the department.
At the meeting, the union minister said the coordination meeting was held to seek suggestions and comments on establishing a fully furnished movie studio and a movie skills training school.
To establish these in Nay Pyi Taw, a building and adequate space must be allotted, said the union minister.
However, it will not be effective if conducted by the government alone, and the relevant people and entities from the industry must participate in it, added the union minister. The investment component must be considered, besides the basic requirements for a movie studio and a training school.
The actual implementation also needs to be in line with the existing rules, laws, procedures and the investment law.
The motion picture development will benefit the artistes and players in the motion picture industry and will raise the image of the country, the union minister said.
Later, Myanma Radio and Television Director-General U Myint Htway explained making motion pictures in the studios at Tatkone head office, Nay Pyi Taw, while Information and Public Relations Department Director-General U Ye Naing explained plans made to establish a movie studio and a movie skills training school.
Following this, Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation Chairman U Zin Waing, Myanmar Music Association Vice President U Lwin Myint, artistes and players in the motion picture sector and those already operating movie training schools discussed and gave suggestions on establishing a movie studio and a training school. The union minister delivered a concluding speech after coordinating on the discussions and suggestions. —Myanmar News Agency
