The price of cotton crop in the Sagaing region is much higher than last year, said U Aung Kyi Win, deputy head of the Sagaing Region Agriculture Department.
“We have cultivated over 70,000 acres of the cotton crop. Some of the cotton crops started being harvested these days. Currently, the price of cotton fetched K1,600 per viss. But last year, it was only K1,200 per viss. This year, the cotton prices are significantly higher than last year. The increased demand for cotton crop has pushed prices to rise in the market,” he added.
