Court jails ex-State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, ex-mayor Dr Myo Aung, former deputy mayor U Ye Min Oo, former committee member U Min Thu on corruption charges

The Anti-Corruption Commission has inspected corruption cases against ex-State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
According to the inspection, it was found that there were over K19 billion losses in State funds as she failed to follow the procedures and paid the payment lower than the proper amount using her power in applying for 101.33 acres of land in Ottarathiri and 23.855 acres of land in Pobbathiri townships of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area to establish the Layaungtaw Horticulture Vocational School of the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Chairperson of the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation, misused her power and authority to use K1.6 billion of public donations to build a house for her.
She misused her authority in renting the 1.86 acres of land and building at No 60 of the University Avenue Road in Bahan Township to open the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation headquarters where she served as chairperson and it caused over K5,200 million losses to the State funds.
The ex-chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee and ex-mayor Dr Myo Aung, former deputy mayor U Ye Min Oo and former committee member U Min Thu were also found guilty of granting land use permit and land grant by violating the procedures of No 7/2020 meeting held on 18-2-2020 for 101.33 acres of land in Ottarathiri Township and 23.855 acres of land in Pobbathiri Township to implement the Layaungtaw Horticulture Vocational School of the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation.
Therefore, ex-State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was charged under the Anti-Corruption Law Section 55 and ex-chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee and ex-mayor Dr Myo Aung, former deputy mayor U Ye Min Oo and former committee member U Min Thu under the Anti-Corruption Law Sections 55 and 63 and opened cases against them at the Mandalay Region High Court on 8 July 2021 and trials were conducted at the separate court (Nay Pyi Taw).
On 15 August 2022, the court sentenced Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to six years in prison for four cases, Dr Myo Aung to three years imprisonment for two cases, U Ye Min Oo to three years imprisonment for one case and U Min Thu to three years imprisonment for one case. — MNA
