Create good results through the preservation of performing arts

Myanmar has long been recognized for its rich cultural heritage, prestige, and integrity. The country’s cultural traditions, closely linked with the diverse national races, have been preserved and cherished over the years. These traditions form the backbone of Myanmar’s identity and are a source of national pride.
It is essential for everyone living in Myanmar to be familiar with the country’s monarchical culture, customs, and the histories of its various national races. Culture plays a significant role in fostering social relationships, and understanding one another’s different traditions and customs can enhance social bonds and promote friendly ties. In a country as diverse as Myanmar, with over 100 national races, understanding the unique customs and characters of each group helps foster unity and mutual respect.

It is crucial for the youth to embrace the theme of these competitions, ensuring the sustainability of Myanmar’s cultural heritage. By doing so, they can contribute to the continued vitality of the nation’s fine traditions, preserving them for as long as
the world exists while also fostering new creative expressions in the performing arts.

Traditional culture also serves as a foundation for building solidarity and strengthening the Union spirit. The customs and traditions observed today will become historical legacies for future generations, just as the traditions of the past have shaped the present.
To ensure the preservation of these cultural traditions and historical heritages, the Myanmar government has been organizing the Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competitions for many years. These competitions aim to promote and preserve Myanmar’s traditional culture while encouraging new creative expressions that honour these customs. The goal is to maintain the cultural identity of the national races while allowing for growth and innovation within the arts.
The Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competitions began in 1993, serving as a platform to uplift and celebrate the country’s traditional culture. The competitions were held annually for 22 years before a five-year hiatus from 2017 to 2021. In 2022, the government resumed the competitions, much to the delight of performers and cultural enthusiasts across the country.
In 2024, the 25th Performing Arts Competitions will take place with specific visions to uplift national prestige, preserve cultural heritage, explore and promote the traditional performing arts of ethnic nationals, and serve as a cultural entity contributing to the country’s peace, stability, and development. The competitions also aim to inspire the younger generation to preserve and propagate the national spirit.
It is crucial for the youth to embrace the theme of these competitions, ensuring the sustainability of Myanmar’s cultural heritage. By doing so, they can contribute to the continued vitality of the nation’s fine traditions, preserving them for as long as the world exists while also fostering new creative expressions in the performing arts.
