MYANMAR customs confiscated unauthorized goods worth Ks3.7 billion last month, according to the official figures released by the Customs Department last week.
In June alone, the Customs Department seized the illegal goods with an estimated value of Ks3.69 million at all customs checkpoints including Yangon International Airport, Yangon port, jetties, Yepu checkpoint and other significant points in regions and states, recording more than 800 cases.
Seized illicit goods included protected timber, alcoholic beverages, cosmetics, unregistered motor cars and other restricted commodities. The Customs Department seized illegal goods amounting to Ks1.4 billion in April. The figures increased to Ks3 billion in May.
