Dagon University celebrates Silver Jubilee

Dagon University observed its 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee Celebration yesterday on its premises in Yangon Region yesterday.
Union Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, Chief Minister for Yangon Region, U Phyo Min Thein, Regional Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, and Yangon Regional Social Affairs Minister, U Naing Ngan Linn, launched the celebrations with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein then delivered opening remarks.
Next, Union Minister Dr. Myo Thein Gyi also delivered a speech, saying Dagon University was founded in November 1993 and initially started out with 11 academic degree programs taught by 14 teachers including the rector.
Now, with the support of teachers and staff members of the university, the university has 22 departments and 26 subject areas. Using the 25 years of experience of the university, we will move forward with achievements and means of the various teaching, learning and training methods, while we are in cooperation in research projects in ensuring national, regional and global well-being.
Afterward, regional Minister U Naing Ngan Linn and Pro-Rector Dr. Nu Nu Yi
delivered the closing speeches and took documentary photographs with the attendees. The Union Minister and entourage then looked around the science fair commemorating the university’s 25th anniversary, and the teaching aid exhibition.
