Dave Leduc, the defending champion of the Myanmar Lethwei World Championship (MLWC), managed to hold on to his title at the Air KBZ Grand Final Championship at the Thein Phyu Lethwei Stadium in Yangon yesterday.
Leduc’s bareknuckle-boxing match with former world champion Tun Tun Min ended in a draw. The match proved to be an exciting one with Myanmar lethwei fans cheering both fighters.
Tun Tun Min, who had been suffering from a knee problem and had taken a long break after his last fight, did not get much chance to showcase his form at yesterday’s fight.
In the first round, Dave Leduc dominated with the use of his elbow and well-timed kicks. Tun Tun Min was floored twice in the first round, but he managed to avoid getting knocked out.
In the second round, both fighters put up a calculated fight.
In a thrilling third round, Tun Tun Min upped his challenge with continuous punches and knee attacks, but Dave Leduc stood firm.
Dave Leduc once again dominated the fourth round, with some errors from Tun Tun Min. In the final round, Tun Tun Min was again floored, but he managed to stand up, and the match ended in a draw.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
