The Yangon Region Hluttaw unanimously voted Daw Khin Myo Kyi to replace former Yangon Region Advocate General U Han Htoo, who was relieved of his post for allegedly accepting bribes to drop the murder case of comedian Aung Ye Htwe.
During the tenth-day meeting of the seventh regular session of the Second Yangon Region Hluttaw, held on 26 September, the Speaker read the Yangon Region Chief Minister’s nomination for Daw Khin Myo Kyi to be the new advocate general of Yangon Region. The Speaker then announced that MPs opposed to the nomination can voice their reasons with sufficient evidence.
During the eleventh-day meeting of the seventh regular session of the Second Yangon Region Hluttaw, held yesterday, the Hluttaw unanimously approved Daw Khin Myo Kyi as the new advocate general of Yangon Region.
Beginning in 1984, Daw Khin Myo Kyi has spent 34 years as a law officer and had just retired last June. She is currently 61. Daw Khin Myo Kyi has assumed several posts, including grade-4 law officer, township legal officer, Assistant Director (Mandalay), Deputy Director (Monywa), Regional Law Officer (Kayin State), and Director at the Union Attorney-General’s Office, according to her short biography distributed at the Yangon Region Hluttaw.
