Dawei Special Economic Zone project is beneficial to the State as well as contributing to the international community: Senior General

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing yesterday morning inspected the Dawei Special Economic Zone and the site chosen for the deep- sea port project in Nabulei 17 miles northwest of Dawei in Taninthayi Region.
At the briefing hall, the Senior General heard reports by Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo and Chairman of Dawei SEZ Management Committee U Aung Soe on the implementation of the zone, delay of improving the SEZ for various reasons, the progress of jetties, factories and buildings in the SEZ area, requirements for further implementation and future plans.
In his response to the reports, the Senior General explained that the Dawei Special Economic Zone project is beneficial to the State as well as contributing to the international community. It is necessary to successfully implement the project as commodities can be transported from the port of Viet Nam to Dawei deep-sea port via East Asian countries and then to South Asia and the Gulf as well as the commodities from western countries to Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam and then East Asia via the Dawei deep-sea port. The Senior General underlined the need to maintain buildings in the project not be damaged and to be long-term existence. And, it is necessary to solve the work process through relevant committees so as to achieve success in further implementation.
The Senior General exchanged views on the need of implementing the project with Union ministers and senior military officers, inspected the layout plan of the project and left necessary instructions.
The Senior General and party viewed the sites chosen for the Dawei SEZ and the deep-sea port project and gave necessary instructions. — MNA
