Defence Minister holds virtual meeting with UN Special Representative

Union Minister for Defence Lt-Gen Sein Win held a virtual meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict Ms Virginia Gamba yesterday. They discussed the Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting (CTFMR) and further cooperation including one-year term roadmap after Myanmar Tatmadaw was removed from the list of the recruitment and use of child soldiers in the annexe of 2019 Report of UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.
The meeting was also attended by the military personnel of Office of Adjutant-General, Judge Advocate-General office, Office of Director for Recruitment and Resettlement Unit, Defence Services Records Office and members of Committee for Prevention of Military Recruitment of Underage Children, the Permanent Secretary of Defence Services, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Myanmar Mr Ola Almgren and UNICEF Representative of Myanmar Ms June Kunugi, in their capacities as co-chairs of the UN Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting (CTFMR) in Myanmar.—MNA (Translated by Khine Thazin Han)
