Defence Ministry, UNCTFMR meet to prevent recruitment of minors

The Defence Services Ministry’s Committee for Prevention Against Recruiting Minors and the UN Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting (UNCTFMR) held a high-level meeting in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, focusing on future cooperation between the two sides.
The meeting opened with remarks by Union Minister for Defence Lt-Gen Sein Win. At the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation between them and the implementing of plans to prevent the recruitment of minors.
Also present at the meeting were senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of International Cooperation, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Office of the Union Attorney-General, two joint chairmen, and members of the UNCTFMR from UNRC, UNICEF, WFP, ILO, UNHCR, andSave the Children International.
