Defence Services members honored with medals

A ceremony to confer honorary medals and posthumous titles to officers and other ranks was held at the Zeyarthiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
At the ceremony, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that the Tatmataw has been performing its duty to defend the independence and sovereignty of the country at all times, under any government or political system with loyalty to the
people and the country and warned members of the defence services to make correct decisions in accordance with the time and situation to avoid unnecessary losses.
In addition, the senior general said that the Tatmataw has been trying to solve armed conflicts through peaceful means rather than relying on military means and as wars lead to losses of lives of members of the defence services, the Tatmadaw has always been desirous of peace by actively participating in the peace process.
At the ceremony, the senior general presented gallantry awards to a colonel, four lieutenant colonels, eight majors, sixteen captains, three lieutenants, seven warrant officers-2, one company sergeant, six sergeants, eight corporals, eighteen lance corporals and three privates. Gallantry certificates of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services were awarded to one lieutenant colonel, six majors, three captains, two warrant officers-2, one sergeant, one corporal and two lance corporals. Certificates of honour of the commander-in-chief of defence services went to two major-generals, four colonels, one lieutenant colonel, six majors, eight captains, three warrant officers, one company sergeant, five sergeants, one corporal and four privates.
After the ceremony, the senior general posed for documentary photos with award and certificate winners and their families.
A total of 21 female personnel were presented with gallantry awards and certificates this year. The remaining awards will be presented to winners at regional commands.—Myanmar News Agency
