The delegation led by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung who attended the 16th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting-16th ANCM held in Indonesia arrived back in Yangon by air yesterday evening.
They were welcomed back at the Yangon International Airport by Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe and party.
During the trip, the Myanmar naval delegation attended the 16th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting-16th ANCM and held bilateral calls with ASEAN Navy Chiefs, attended by chiefs of ASEAN navies, the Deputy Chief of General Staff (Army) of Laos and officials.
First, Admiral Yudo Margono, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, extended greetings at the meeting. The minute of the 15th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting was approved. ANCM Permanent Joint Secretary presented a brief report on regional maritime security.
The chiefs of ASEAN navies exchanged country-wise views on the Roles of ASEAN Navies in Addressing Maritime Challenges. Admiral Moe Aung discussed the construction of a safe and stable maritime arena by collectively solving the regional maritime challenges, capacity enhancement of the Tatmadaw (Navy) through training, and the important role of teamwork to be exercised by ASEAN navies. Chiefs of ASEAN Navies exchanged views on further promotion of cooperation among navies and harmonious cooperation in maritime security measures.
They focused on the exchange of experiences in training sessions of the ASEAN navies. They were invited to the joint naval exercises, international maritime defence equipment expo and meeting programmes among navies to be held in 2023.
The meeting ended with the remark of the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy.
The Commander-in-Chief (Navy) held talks with the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, the Chief of Staff of the Vietnamese People’s Navy, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, the Commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy and the Deputy Chief of General Staff (Army) of Laos separately and discussed naval cooperation between two countries each. —MNA
