Democracy Film Festival opens in Nay Pyi Taw

The opening ceremony of the Myanmar Democracy Film Festival at Aung Thabyay Cineplex in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, one of the many Myanmar Democracy Festivals under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Information, was held yesterday.
Present at the ceremony were Nay Pyi Taw Council members U Aung Myin Tun and U Aye Maung Sein, Nay Pyi Taw Council development committee members, U Kyaw Soe, Managing Director of News and Periodicals Enterprise under the Ministry of Information, Hluttaw representatives and departmental officials.
At the ceremony, U Aung Myin Tun, Nay Pyi Taw Council Member, U Phyo Zayar Thaw, Hluttaw representative and U Kyaw Soe, MD of NPE, Ministry of Information opened the ceremony by cutting a ribbon, followed by an opening address from U Aung Myin Tun.
Afterward, those present at the ceremony watched the film, “Myanmar, a Nation of Grandeur in the World.”.
Five films will be screened at Aung Thabyay and Nay Pyi Taw Junction Cineplex until 15th September, include “Glittering with Gold in the Sunlight”, “Thara Sawhti”, “Myanmar, a Nation of Grandeur in the World”, “Blue-Sky Days to Come” and “Demo Civilian Community”.
“The MDFF was held with a view to share knowledge as to which systems they are moving towards as democratic nations for the development of moral and morality included in democratic practices and on which their performances are based. Here I would like to say that the government will surely go to the democratic goal, how many difficulties they found on the way, in moving forward through the transitional way. It is firmly believed that film is the best media in making people who do not read or know policies and principles”, U Aung Myin Tun said.
An audience member who came to see the movies agreed.
“We gained knowledge, as the films screened are concerned with democracy. In the following days, I will come again.”
