Deputy Minister meets members to Global Fisheries Forum, Seafood Expo Russia Forum

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi, met the members of the Myanmar Fisheries Federation and representatives of saltwater shrimp farmers who will attend the Global Fisheries Forum and the Seafood Expo Russia Forum to be held in the Russian Federation at the federation, Insein Township, Yangon Region yesterday afternoon.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister said that in the Global Fisheries Forum and the Seafood Expo Russia Forum, the Fisheries Federation of Myanmar will discuss the two sectors to export sea fish from Russia as a value-added product to Myanmar.
“We will discuss various sectors that will benefit the aquatic product sector, technology for water products, including investment of fish and shrimp breeding technology,” he said.
“Myeik Archipelagos is a good place to farm blue and yellow tuna for the global market and is an attractive place for investment.
“In the aquatic products sector, the development of the fish and shrimp sector will be harnessed from the cooperation between the two countries. Rules and regulations were prescribed for inshore and offshore fishing activities in Myanmar. There is strict regulation to ensure compliance with existing laws, and there is a need to make efforts develop farming and production businesses applying modern technology, including GAqP,” he added.
Further, the officials of the Fisheries Federation presented the information to be discussed in the forum and asked the Deputy Minister to fill in the necessary information.
Officials from the ministry, members of MFF and representatives of the fishing industry will leave on 19 September to attend two forums to be held in the Russian Federation from 21 to 23 September.—Nyein Thu (MNA)/GNLM
