Union Minister Dr. Aung Thu attended the opening ceremony of the workshop for public-private-partnership in developing agricultural interconnectivity in the BIMSTEC region, held at Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The union minister delivered a speech saying that it is important to work for the development of agricultural interconnectivity since all member nations of BIMSTEC primarily focuses on agriculture. He said farmers working individually in small areas are instrumental in ensuring sufficient food and nutritional supply, abolishing poverty, and promoting inclusive and sustainable agricultural development operations.
Next, U Han Thein Kyaw, a director from the BIMSTEC Secretariat, delivered the welcoming speech.
BIMSTEC member nations include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Myanmar has been appointed as the lead nation in the agricultural sector and has to work for the interconnected development of all member nations in that field.
