Discussion on promotion of Yunnan-Myanmar trade and economic cooperation held

The UMFCCI holds discussion with the Commerce Department of People's Republic of China (Yunnan Province) on 15 February in Yangon.

To foster trade and economic cooperation between Myanmar entrepreneurs and the Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China, Director-General Mr Li Chenyang of the Commerce Department of People’s Republic of China (Yunnan Province) and President U Aye Win of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry-UMFCCI had a discussion at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Yangon on 15 February.
Director-General Mr Li Chenyang said that he would like to call for the establishment of relations between Yunnan and Myanmar entrepreneurs in order to promote Yunnan-Myanmar cooperation. He also pointed out that communication between traders, exchange of information and intergovernmental cooperation are equally important.
UMFCCI President U Aye Win mentioned that there have been close economic relations between Myanmar and Yunnan Province for a long time, and it is time to re-promote border trade, as well as economic interaction and trade, which has decreased during the Covid-19 pandemic. The UMFCCI president suggested making border trade payments only through the banking system, assisting domestic entrepreneurs to understand better the registration process at GACC to promote exportation to China and making the process easy and smooth.
Economic and Commercial counsellor Mr Tan Shu from the Chinese Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar, UMFCCI Vice-President U Thaung Tin and Dr Myo Thet, Joint General Secretaries U Myo Thant, U Kyaw Dewa, U Ye Myint Maung and U Aung Zeyar Lwin, Treasurer U Hla Oo, Joint Treasurer U Hla Myint Shwe, trade and finance officers from the Commerce Department of Yunnan Province, businessmen and the general managers of the Yunnan Trade Group Development participated in the meeting. — Myo Min Thura/CT
