Internally displaced persons (IDPs) were provided with relief items at a religious building in Kyaukme Township, Northern Shan State this morning.
The displaced persons in Mongngot Town left their homes due to escalating fighting between the Myanmar military and ethnic armed groups. The displaced persons were taking shelter at a monastery in Kyaukme; they have been furnished with humanitarian assistance such as stationery, warm clothes, blankets and mosquito nets. The relief supplies were contributed by the UN, Myitta Foundation and Relief
International, a Lashio-based organization.
The Shan State Hluttaw Representatives U Sai Tun Win and U Sai Tun Nyan, Relief and Resettlement Department officials and other relevant officials attended the ceremony, according to a source from the Information and Public Relations Department.
