domestic visitors thronged Kyaukmyatmaw Pagoda out of seven travel destinations in Bagan Cultural Zone in NyaungU Township of Mandalay Region, said U Myo Min Aung, assistant director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Bagan Branch).
The DHT created appealing holiday destinations to enjoy the beautiful natural landscapes and heritage tourism in Bagan.
Additionally, it developed the new seven destinations as the Community-based Tourism sites to ensure the job creation for the residents and draw the attention of local travellers and tourists.
Out of those destinations, Kyaukmyatmaw Pagoda is packed with approximately 15,000 visitors per day during the Thingyan holidays. The DHT developed those seven sites; Kyaukmyatmaw Pagoda, Rocky Lake, Zee-O-Hla village, Set-Set-Yo village, Mount Popa and Gemoe Pond and Thepyintaw village.
According to the department, besides Kyaukmyatmaw Pagoda, domestic visitors observe community-based tourist sites such as Set-Set-Yo village and Zee-O-Hla village these days.
Kyaukmyatmaw Pagoda is situated on the bank of the Ayeyawady River. It is a two-storey temple and architecture of the Pyu Era. Temple’s interior design is similar to that of Lawkananda Pagoda.
