It is necessary to implement the theme 2022 “End racism. Build peace.” for covering the whole nation as part of marking the International Day of Peace observed around the world on 21 September every year.
In fact, everybody aspires to enjoy the fruits of peace. As such, the Myanmar government is striving for the restoration of perpetual peace in all parts of the nation by joining hands with ethnic armed organizations as well as ethnic organizations in line with the provisions of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.
To do so, all ethnic national people need to build trust, understanding and respect among them by setting aside racism, religion and discrimination. UN Secretary-General António Guterres said: Racism continues to poison institutions, social structures, and everyday life in every society. It continues to be a driver of persistent inequality. And it continues to deny people their fundamental human rights. It destabilizes societies, undermines democracies, erodes the legitimacy of governments, and… the linkages between racism and gender inequality are unmistakable.
Everybody needs to flourish empathy, compassion and sympathy in order to foster perpetual peace. The persons keeping perpetual peace in their minds can build a more pleasant and prosperous world to create happiness for all. If so, they can stay away from plights, crises, conflicts and social problems.
Now, the peoples across the world as well as in entire Myanmar hear the ring of the peace bell. Peace can stop the disadvantages of uprisings, riots and chaos. Only when the country restores perpetual peace will the government fulfil the needs of ethnic national people and carry out development tasks of all parts of the nation. Consequently, ethnic youths can save their lives due to the ceasefire and they will make vigorous efforts in the production of agricultural and livestock sectors not only for themselves but for their national brethren.
As such, all ethnic people need to take the shortest time for restoring peace across the nation to have the betterment of society. It is because peace is able to develop overall sectors of the nation. Importantly, if the people end racism and build peace, a new generation of youths will have a brighter future.
Now is the time to restore perpetual peace while all the global countries are trying to achieve peace in various forms in their relevant ways. Hence, it is important not to be late in the restoration of peace similar to other countries. All Myanmar people must see the fruits of peace whereas all global countries are trying to restore peace.
