Currently, the Provisional Government of Myanmar set an aim to decline a half down of infection rate in August 2021. It decided to vaccinate 50 per cent of the total population this year, and if possible, vaccination will be extended for the people of more than half the population of the country.
The first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic brought lesser losses to Myanmar but the third wave of the pandemic makes an attempt to leave a great loss in the country. However, not only the government but the entire people are defying the attacks of the pandemic in the third wave through the emergency meetings to take preventive, control and treatment measures for the disease, medical examination over the patients and contact persons, and the practice of the stay-at-home programme. At an opportune time, the result will come out who will win over the crisis.
An act of those who give up for any problem is called surrender. In encountering the COVID-19 pandemic, the government and the people need to accept the concept “never surrender, ever conquer”.
As an early plan adopted by the previous government, Myanmar arranged to purchase anti-COVID-19 vaccines from India. But, India itself is struggling with the miseries of COVID-19 and it is difficult to sell the vaccines to Myanmar.
Currently, the Provisional Government of Myanmar tried to purchase the vaccines from Russia and China. Fortunately, China, India, Cambodia and Thailand expressed their good friendship relations and attachment to Myanmar by donating vaccines and related supplies. Their donations are really contributing much to the vaccination programme of Myanmar. As such, the entire people need to join hands with each other in preventing the disease. Now, foreign aid would be under limitation for Myanmar. So, Myanmar people joining hands with each other need to rely on themselves to fight against the pandemic.
On the other hand, region and state governments are assigned the duty to resurge the economy of businesses triggered by the infection of COVID-19. The government pledged to provide aid to businesspersons after reducing tax rates. Amid the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, garment factories are booming in Myanmar with the creation of job opportunities for the local people. Meanwhile, the government will resume the development projects in all parts of the country.
