DPM MoFA Union Minister separately receives Head of UNOCHA in Myanmar, Ambassador of Bangladesh

U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, received Mr Sajjad Mohammad Sajid, Head of Office of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in Myanmar, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning. Mr Ramanathan Balakrishnan, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator ad interim also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed on ways and means of further cooperation between the Government of Myanmar and the United Nations and its related agencies, following the visit of Mr Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in August 2023.
The Deputy Prime Minister also held talks with Dr Md Monwar Hossain, Ambassador-designate of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at the same venue in the afternoon.
During the call, they cordially exchanged views on further consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas including bilateral trade, investment and connectivity, successful implementation of repatriation of verified displaced persons from Rakhine State as well as regional and international matters of common interest. — MNA/TTA
