In a series of successful operations, authorities have seized drugs valued at over K550 million in Mandalay and Yangon Regions. According to Myanmar Police Force reports the operations were conducted under the supervision of the Drug Inforcement Division.
At approximately 9 am on the morning of 27 August, the combined team apprehended Soe Tint at the bus terminal in Ngwetawkyigon, Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay Region. The seizure included 2.45 kilogrammes of the psychotropic substance known as Happy Water, which was transported via motorcycle. The combined team also arrested Sai Kham Ti in Aungmyaythazan Township, who was found with psychotropic substances.
Further investigations led to the seizure of 4,900 tablets of ATS, 380 Happy-5 tablets, 950 grammes of ketamine, and a Toyota Fielder in Mangaladon Township, Yangon Region. The individual, Kan Htoo Tin Thein was arrested, and the drugs were found along with a car. At 11:00 am on 28 August, another arrest was made in Yaksawk Township, where Ma Wah Wah Lwin (aka) Sanda, a drug trafficker, was apprehended. The drugs seized included 470 grammes of ICE, 25 grammes of ketamine, one kilogramme of collagen powder, and 700 tablets of Tramadol.
Overall, the operations on 27 and 28 August resulted in the seizure of psychotropic substances worth over K550 million. The seized drugs were being transported from Shan State to Mandalay and Yangon Regions for distribution in KTVs, clubs, bars, and restaurants. Legal actions have been taken against the offenders, and investigations are ongoing to identify further accomplices involved in drug trafficking. —MNA/KZL
