Efforts must be made for the successful undertaking of agriculture and livestock tasks to produce meat, fish and vegetables for the people to consume products at cheap prices: Senior General

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspected Pyidaungsu Hall where the National Convention was convened to draw the Constitution (2008) near Nyaunghnapin Village of Hlegu Township in Yangon Region yesterday morning.
At the Pyidaungsu Hall, Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay reported to the Senior General on the history of the building, damaged parts and preparations for maintenance.
After hearing the report, the Senior General said that these were historic buildings where the Constitution (2008) which is important for the State was drawn. These historic buildings were maintained as much as possible in successive eras. Due to weakness in maintenance, the damaged parts have come out. Emphasis must be placed on maintenance for the long-term existence of buildings. It is necessary to repair the existing buildings. The Senior General stressed the need to systematic maintain exit and entrance roads.

The Senior General and party viewed round the Pyidaungsu Hall and Anawrahta Yeiktha and have instructions to officials.
The National Convention was convened at the Pyidaungsu Hall seven times with the participation of 702 delegates from eight groups from 2004 to 2007 in order to approve the Constitution (2008). After approving the constitution, it was no longer to use the hall. The venue where the National Convention was convened is located on 585.81 acres of land, 200 acres of which are designated as the agricultural zone and 100 more acres as the livestock zone. As maintenance is weak, some parts are damaged. Now, the buildings will be placed under maintenance.
At the meeting hall of Nyaunghnapin agriculture and livestock special zone, the Senior General heard reports on undertakings of agriculture and livestock farming works in respective zones, construction of roads in the zones, production of crops, meat, egg and milk from respective zones, creation of jobs for the local people and further implementation of the agriculture and livestock zones presented by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi.

In his response to the reports, the Senior General said that previous Tatmadaw governments in successive eras have been implementing agriculture and livestock farming works in respective zones for greening the 30th-mile radius area of Yangon City and for local people to have good food supplies. Nyaunghnapin agriculture and livestock special zone are engaged in the cultivation of crops and perennial crops for food supplies and grow the vegetables successfully. It is necessary to efficiently utilize the sown acreage with the correct agricultural techniques and proper water supply. In so doing, feedstuffs must be given to the animals, and waste from livestock farms must be used as bio-fertilizers. Relevant universities and colleges need to systematically give techniques of agriculture and livestock to students.
Fish farming works must be done systematically to meet the fish demand of dwellers from Yangon City. Efforts must be made for the successful undertaking of agriculture and livestock tasks to produce meat, fish and vegetables for the people to consume products at cheap prices.
Officials reported on undertakings of agriculture and livestock farming works and future plans. The Senior General discussed future plans for the development of agriculture and livestock farms across the nation.
The Senior General and party inspected an organic vegetable plantation being operated by the Agriculture Department and Sein Lan Cooperative Society in the zone and the poultry farm of CJ Feed Myanmar. —MNA
