Nay Pyi Taw, 19 Nov—U Hla Tun, Union Minister at the President Office, stressed the need to consider the lives of local people for undertaking socioeconomic development under the Corporate Social Responsibility Plan in implementing the report of the Investigation Commission on Letpadaungtaung Copper Mine Project, at a meeting in Monywa, Sagaing Region, on Tuesday.
Departmental officials are to organize public participation in implementing the report of the investigation commission to be able to speed up the development tasks, he said.
He highlighted that a committee formed with local and foreign experts and representatives of NGOs is to compile an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment report for the copper mine project and seek the approval of the government for serving the interests of both the State and local people.
The union minister urged officials to appoint locals who have completed vocational training for the respective jobs.
Chief Minister of Sagaing Region U Tha Aye, Adjutant-General Maj-Gen Hsan Oo and officials explained the progress of tasks and future plans, and the union minister reviewed their discussions.
