The Myanma Railways under the Ministry of Transport and Communications plays a key sector in Myanmar transporting commodities and passengers with the most convenience and cheapest service.
Although the Myanma Railways is the 145-year-old most long-lasting rail transport facility among Southeast Asian countries, it is necessary to strive for providing transport services to people from all parts of the nation through the rail network.
In fact, rail transport is crucial in the economic driving force of the nation. As transport services are smooth and swift at home, commodity flow can be speeded up to contribute a great deal to the development of the country. So, the government is striving for greater improvement of rail transport than now with upgrading and maintenance of rail tracks along relevant sections. Employees of the Myanma Railways must dutifully serve their assignments for the regular running of trains without any delays triggered by communication and rail track faults. Even if the trains are damaged on the tracks due to terror acts of terrorists, skilled labourers, technicians, and engineers need to try hard for operating the regular running of trains so as to give transport services to the people on time.
Currently, various branches of the Myanma Railways are being functioned for the improvement of rail transport services. In this regard, locomotive factories are assembling the parts of coaches and locomotives to be in conformity with the railway type being used at home.
Indeed, Myanmar has grasped many chances to run electric trains. But the country missed the opportunity to generate electricity from existing natural resources for various reasons. If electricity can be efficiently generated to have thousands of megawatts on a yearly basis, it is easy to operate the running of electric trains for serving the interests of the people.
In this regard, everybody needs to understand the successful operation of rail transport relies on sufficient consumption of electricity in various sectors such as communications, rail track, mechanical engineering, transport, traffic, and so on.
