Exchange of notes on ODA loan and grant aid to Myanmar

Ambassador of Japan to Myanmar Mr. Tateshi HIGUCHI and Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Maung Maung Win signed Exchange of notes for one ODA loan project amounting to US$ 95.8 million, and one grant aid project, amounting to US$ 20.10 million yesterday in
Nay Pyi Taw.
The ODA Loan – Hydropower Plants Rehabilitation Project will cost US$ 95.8 million. This project aims to rehabilitate deteriorated power generation facilities etc. of the Baluchaung No.1 Hydropower Plant and the Sedawgyi Hydropower Plant. This project will contribute to stabilizing electricity supply within Myanmar, promoting economic and social development, and upgrading Myanmar people’s lives.
This project is supplied with the conditions of (a) 0.01% interest rate per annum, (b) forty years of repayment period (including ten years of grace period) and (c) untied procurement.
The grant aid – the project for Expansion of Broadcasting Equipment of Myanma Radio and Television will cost US$ 20.10 million. This project aims to expand broadcasting equipment of Myanma Radio and Television, a national broadcasting station, assisting the production of expressive and high-quality broadcast programs and contributing to capacity-building for socio-economic development, including the promotion of national reconciliation.
