Explosion occurs during homemade mine making in Bahan

An explosion occurred during homemade mine making at around 10 pm in the Team PT gym located in Bogyoke park on Natmauk Road, Bahan Township, Yangon Region, on 5 May.
Thaw Htoo Naing (a) Pho Thaw, son of U Aung Soe, owner of the gym, who was making the mine, was injured and taken to North Okkalapa General Hospital in North Okkalapa Township at around 11 pm.

When members of the security forces searched the car, they found a homemade mine made of a PVC pipe in the vehicle, which was used to transport him to the hospital. They arrested Myat Htoo Naing (a) Kaung Sithu, Han Htoo Naing and May Yadana Hlaing, who took him to the hospital.

During the search in the gym, materials used in homemade mine making, including one CZ79 Compact 9mm pistol and its magazine, 11 bullets, 53 detonators, 7 gas masks and 10 goggles, 27 PVC pipes (1 inch in diameter and about 8 inches in length), 9 cans of glue, 2 bags of firework pieces, 150 packs of caps, 7 bamboo clips (with battery), 50 ticals of ammonium nitrate, 50 ticals of sulfur, one piece of ammunition, two cans of gunpowder, 3 hammers, nine bank saving books, 11 ATM cards and nine passports and others were confiscated. It is reported that those arrested together with explosive materials to be used in terrorist acts will be taken effective action in accordance with the law. — MNA
