According to the Ministry of Industry, express EVs have already started trial runs on highway trips, and more express EVs will be imported.
Mandalar Min Express Trading and Transportation Co Ltd and Yar Zar Min Industry Co Ltd submitted applications to the Ministry of Industry to import new express EVs. Yangon Aerodrome Co Ltd and Pioneer Aerodrome Co Ltd will build EV charging stations.
“Electric expresses are allowed to be imported. As for Mandalay, it has already started operating. Approved companies are importing now, and there are companies applying to import more. An official from the Ministry of Industry said that the Ministry of Construction has also granted tax-free permission to import and pass through the road and bridge constructed by the Ministry of Construction.
During the initial project, charging stations were installed in four places in Nay Pyi Taw, five in Yangon, five in Mandalay, and five in the Yangon-Mandalay expressway, a total of 19 places.
Currently, EVs have been granted tax-free permission to pass through the main road networks such as the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, Yangon-Toungoo-Meiktila-Mandalay Union Highway, Yangon-Pyay Road and Yangon-Pathein Road. — ASH/MKKS
