Families of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) hold 11th communal Kathina ceremony

Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) held their 11th communal Kathina donation ceremony yesterday morning in Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander in- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the ceremony and presented Kathina robes and offertories.
Present were 27 members of the Sangha led by Ovadasariya Sayadaw of the Board of Trustees of Uppatasanti Pagoda, Presiding Nayaka of Pauk Myaing Monastery in Lewe Township Nay Pyi Taw, Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Jininda.
Also, present together with Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla were Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Members of the State Administration Council General Mya Tun Oo and wife, Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and wife, Secretary Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dwe and wife, Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and wife, Union Ministers Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, and Tatmadaw officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.
The Senior General and wife and the congregation observed the display of Kathina robes, offertories and Padethabins (tree-shaped stands where various kinds of offerings are hung) and offered oil lights, water and fruits and meals in the emerald alms-bowl to the Buddha Image in the hall.
The ceremony was then opened by reciting Namo Tasa three times, and the congregation received the Nine Precepts from the Pauk Myaing Sayadaw. Afterwards, the Chairman of the State Administration Council the Senior General and wife offered Kathina robes and alms to the Kan Oo Sayadaw and the Pauk Myaing Sayadaw.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Administration Council Vice-Senior General and his wife offered Kathina robes and alms to Presiding Nayaka of Mingala Zayyon Monastery Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi Parli Sayadaw. The members and Tatmadaw officers who attended the ceremony then offered Kathina robes and alms to the Sayadaws and Sanghas respectively.
Ganvasaka Preaching Sayadaws from Yezin KanU Monastery Ashin Vayama and Ashin Javana carried out a question-and-answer session on Kathina. The Pali Tekkatho Monastery Sayadaw delivered a sermon and the congregation shared the merits gained, and the day’s meal was offered to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha.
At the 11th communal Kathina offering ceremony of families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) yesterday, the donations included 84 Padethabins worth over K-144 million from offices/departments. The donations were transported to respective monasteries with the use of cars from those offices and departments.—MNA
