Growing maize requires adequate soil moisture. Therefore, it is necessary for summer and cold season planting to provide water to the soil to ensure the proper soil moisture. The maize can be harvested two months after planting. The current retail price of corn is K100 per one, and the wholesale price is K80.
Systematic cultivation of maize will increase yield more. Among three types of corn, dent corn is primarily grown for animal feedstuff.
There are various methods of maize cultivation, such as sowing seeds and planting seeds in rows. The latter method can help the corn plant grow and make the kernels smoother since they can be watered and weeded.
There are around 10,000 acres of maize per acre, with three corns in one plant. The maize growers in Kyauktan village, Minbu (Saku) Township, are planting it as a monsoon crop because it is more cost-effective than other crops. — Zeya Htet/GNLM
