Feasibility study to be conducted for Maei-Kyaukpyu road section

The Ministry of Construction says a feasibility study will be conducted on the Maei-Kyaukpyu road section as part of the Nay Pyi Taw-Aunglan-Maei-Kyaukpyu road project.
The Maei-Kyaukpyu section is a part of the Nay Pyi Taw-Aunglan-Maei-Kyaukpyu road project and the feasibility study on Nay Pyi Taw-Maei section has been completed and so the study will be conducted on the remaining road section, Maei-Kyaukpyu.
The Nay Pyi Taw-Aunglan-Maei-Kyaukpyu road project is one of the Early Harvest Projects of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
“We completed the feasibility study on the Nay Pyi Taw-Aunglan-Maei road section. We arrange to sign MoU between Myanmar and China to continue the study on the Maei-Kyaukpyu section. That road proje n bilateral trade. Then, the Maei-Kyaukpyu section is the project aiming for the number of vehicles used in the Kyaukpyu Special Economic Zone and Deep Seaport Project,” said an official of the Highways Department.
Myanmar and China signed an MoU on building the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor in Beijing on 9 September 2018. According to the agreement, the Ministry of Construction signed an MoU with China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) to launch the feasibility study for the Nay Pyi Taw-Aunglan-Maei-Kyaukpyu road project in 2018.
The project is crucial for China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and involved in the Priority Initial Rolling Pipeline Projects of Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 (MPAC 2025), and is also listed in Myanmar National Project Bank. — Kay Kay/GNLM
