First day of Dhamma Puja organized by Yangon Region Government held

The first day of the two-day Dhamma Puja ceremony organized by the Yangon Region Government was held at the Mingala Hall of the Region Government Office on the evening of 1 January.
Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhammajotika Mandalay’s Bhamo Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa delivered a sermon on the first day of event which was attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Hla Soe, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe and departmental officials, those from Leading Committee for Dhamma Puja and working committee and subcommittees.
Then, the Yangon Region Chief Minister donated cash for nine prerequisites for the Dhamma Puja through the region’s religious affairs officer.
Next, Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Nyanissara, and Rector of Sitagu International Buddhist Academy and Abhidhamma University Dr Bhaddanta Nandamala Bhivamsa will deliver sermons on 2 and 3 January respectively and SKYNET Channel, Buddha Channel and Mahabhawdi Channel will broadcast the Dhamma Puja live starting from 7 pm.—MNA
