Fisheries Institute (Twantay) to admit more applicants

The Fishery Institute (Twantay), Yangon Region, will expand its intake for the 2024-2025 academic year according to U Myo Zaw Lin, Staff Officer from Development and Research Branch of the Fisheries Department.
U Myo Zaw Lin stated, “During the 2022-2023 academic year, we initially admitted 66 students when the programme first began. This year, we plan to increase the number of students to 100. The Fisheries Institute offers training in 11 subjects, including fish species identification, fish nutrition, fish feedstuffs and cultivation, reproductive biology, aquatic resources and ecosystem, and fishery-related biology.”
The school will operate as a three-year programme, similar to agricultural science schools. It will be open to under-22-year-old students who have successfully passed the science combination in the matriculation exams.
Prospective students can collect application forms for free from local fisheries departments in the respective regions and districts. The deadline for applications is 30 September.
The diploma course in aquaculture will provide free accommodation and a monthly stipend of K30,000. Graduates will have the opportunity to work as deputy assistant staff officer at the Fisheries Department or with associated companies, with connections facilitated for job placements. — ASH/KZL
