Five-day PyinOoLwin Tazaungdaing fire balloon festival to be held

The PyinOoLwin Tazaungdaing fire balloon festival in Mandalay Region will be held in November, said U Win Myint, a member of the festival organizing committee.
The festival has been planned to be held in the hot-air balloon field near Maha Arnthtoo Kantha Sutaungpyae Pagoda in PyinOoLwin from 24 to 28 November.
“The PyinOoLwin Tazaungdaing festival is an annual lighting festival that welcomes most of the local and foreign travellers. We did not have the celebrations in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But it was resumed in 2022. This year will mark the 17th fire balloon festival. We are preparing to organize the festival attracting more revellers,” he said.
The festival will include the weaving of Matho Thingan (non-stale robe), a 9,000-oil light offering festival and a hot-air balloon competition.
The hot-air balloon competition will be in the hot-air balloon field near Maha Arnthtoo Kantha Sutaungpyae Pagoda, the weaving of non-stale robe and 9,000 oil light offering festival on the pagoda platform.
