Five dead, 30 hurt in car crash on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway

Five people, including former Myanmar Lethwei champion Shwe Duwun, were killed and 30 injured in a car accident at 167-Milepost on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway.
The express passenger bus, which is running Yangon-Taunggyi, crashed at about 5:30 am on 4 March killing five on the spot with 30 being injured. The hurt passengers were taken to Swar hospital.
Former Myanmar Lethwei champion Shwe Duwun was included among the five dead, according to social welfare organizations. Close friends and the Myanmar Lethwei community posted condolence messages on social media.
Ten seriously injured persons, including a month-old baby, were taken to a 1,000-bed General Hospital, Nay Pyi Taw.
The car accident is under investigation by the Thagaya expressway police force. — TWA/MKKS
