As the water level in the Ayeyawady River rises, the 45 schools in Singu Township have temporarily closed, according to U Kyaw Naing, Deputy Head of Township Education Department.
“Normally, we close schools when the water level of the Ayeyawady River rises and classrooms are submerged. If the rainfall continues for many days, we will provide additional classes during the holidays”, he added. There are 45 schools, including 6 high schools, 5 middle schools, 3 post primary schools and 31 primary schools, which were temporarily shut down due to heavy rains and flooding problems in Singu Township, Mandalay Region. — Min Zaw Oo (IPRD)
