Daw Myint Myint Khin Pe (a) Daw Shwe Zi Gwat, Finance Officer of the Free Funeral Service Association (Yangon) located on Bohmu Bha Htoo Road in Dagon Myothit (North), Yangon Region, has been charged under the Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code at the Mayangon Myoma Police Station for her activities in the Civil Disobedience Movement.
Following the case, the security forces searched the office of the association on 3 March and seized some documents. But, Daw Myint Myint Khin Pe (a) Daw Shwe Zi Gwat was not found in the search.
After the scrutinization, it was found that the association received K613,394,350 (over K613 million) and US$20,670 donated by 498 people and organizations at home and abroad from 10 February to 3 March for providing cash assistance to those who are joining the CDM. Besides, it was also found six Fix Deposit Bank Accounts with K2000 million. With the use of the donated cash, the association has provided from K100,000 to K200,000 each to about 2008 civil servants joining CDM until 2nd March in seven regions and states. The total cash provided to the CDM reached K285,630,000 (over K285 million).
Besides, it is found that the association has provided cash assistance to the container drivers and employees of the Myanma Railways for taking part in the CDM movement.
A file has been opened U Kyaw Thu at the Mayangon Myoma Police Station under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code for his main role in supporting those who are joining for CDM movement. Measures are being taken to arrest U Kyaw Thu and his wife Daw Shwe Zi Gwat who are at large after misusing cash assistance contributed by the donors for the free funeral service association. —MNA
