GAP chilli pepper plantations to be undertaken

The growers across the regions and states commonly use the traditional farming method so awareness campaigns of GAP will be conducted.

Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) will be adopted in chilli pepper plantations, said Daw Ohn Mar Kyaw, chair of the Myanmar Chilli Market and Technology Development Association.
The growers across the regions and states commonly use the traditional farming method so awareness campaigns of GAP will be conducted. “At present, the prices of chilli pepper produced under the GAP system are similar to the other chilli pepper prices. This being so, farmers lose interest in the GAP system. Cooperation with the experts will be undertaken to educate the growers on the benefits of GAP. The GAP certificate is crucial for exporting the products to external markets,” she elaborated.
To export quality chilli pepper, we have raised awareness of the GAP to encourage the growers to seek for GAP certificate at the respective Agriculture Departments. — Maung Aye Chan/GNLM
