Gems emporium kicks off in capital

The 52nd Myanma Gems Emporium started here on Wednesday.
The event will display 8,943 lots of jade and 323 lots of gems at Mani
Yadana Jade Hall until 6 July.  Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham visited the opening of the emporium and viewed video presentations on preparation of the event and community works of the Myanma Gems and Entrepreneurs Association.
He also looked around the display of jade and gem wares of private companies at the ground floor of the hall.
A total of 6,072 foreigners and local merchants were invited to the event, which is expected to attract 5,000 visitors.
The emporium will exhibit raw jade and gems, finished products, jewelry, carvings and sculptures, according to the announcement of the Emporium Central Committee.
