The first Board of Directors’ Meeting for the year 2023 of the Greater Mekong Subregion Business Council was held on 9 June in the hybrid system.
Chairman of GMS Business Council U Zaw Min Win, GMS BC Myanmar Director U Moe Kyaw, General Secretary of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Daw Khaing Khaing Nwe, Central Executive Dr Aye Aye, Executive Daw Hla Hla Yi and IR Advisor U Tint Swe attended the event.
At the meeting, GMS BC chairman U Zaw Min Win and vice-chairman Mr Oudet Souvannavong delivered an opening speech, and GMS BC Myanmar Director U Moe Kyaw explained the activities and plans of GMS BC and the processes to be implemented.
Participation of GMS BC in ASEAN Joint Business Council, GMS Ministerial Conference, GMS Senior Officials’ Meeting, and to jointly implement Web Based SME Forum, GMS Logistics Database, GMS Younger e.Entrepreneur Networks were discussed. The directors, members and officials of GMS BC participated in the discussions to jointly promote trade and investment and economic cooperation between countries in the Greater Mekong region.
The Migrant Worker Project, the Carbon Project, Lao-China Railways and the status of the initial completion of the Cross-Border Transportation Agreement were also discussed.
Chairmen and members from the GMS member countries: People’s Republic of China (Yunnan Province), Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Viet Nam attended the meeting. — Myo Min Thura/KZL
