Gold leaves on the golden stone of the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda will be renewed from mid-January to 20 March, according to the pagoda’s board of trustees.
Scaffolding work will start on 17 January and is targeted to be completed on 28 January. Pasting of gold leaves on the stone will start on 29 January and the scaffolding will be removed in mid-March, once the pasting of leaves is complete. The board of trustees renews gold leaves on the stone every three years. Kyaiktiyo Pagoda is a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site in Kyaikto Town of Mon State.
