Nay Pyi Taw, 10 March — Government troops mounted attacks on Kokang insurgent-based hills in the vicinity of the village of Lonhtan, taking some hills after four airstrikes on 9 March, officials said.
Heavy fighting ensued on Tuesday morning as the army shelled rebel bases near the border of Myanmar and China. The military columns captured some strategic hills, continuing their launch of massive security operations in nearby areas.
