Government troops take offensive to secure main routes to Laukkai

Nay Pyi Taw, 19 Feb—Government troops securing Laukkai were engaged in fighting with Kokang renegade groups, who had cut off major routes in an attempt to take control of the town, officials said.
The army columns were in hot pursuit of Kokang insurgents into retreat, following engagements in the vicinity of the Chinshwehaw-Laukkai route and the Kongyan-Laukkai route on Thursday morning.
Three clashes broke out in Laukkai on Wednesday night till Thursday morning, leaving one army member dead and seven wounded. The government troops captured two bodies, seven small arms and ammunitions from the Kokang insurgents.  Myawady
