Green gram plants from Kayan and Thongwa areas are seen in the crop land.

The prices of three types of beans and pulses are rising in the Yangon pulse market within five consecutive days, especially the price of green gram (Kayan Shwewah variety) shoot by K360,000 per tonne.
Green gram (Kayan Shwewah variety) price was only K3,000-K3,120 per viss in the Yangon market on 4 February 2023. The price went up by K200 per viss on the opening day of depots, 6 February, and K100 each day till 10 February, according to the daily bean market prices.
Therefore, the price reached K3,600-K3,720 per viss in the Yangon market on 10 February and it remained unchanged on 11 February.
Pea trader Ko Thet said that in the Yangon bean market, the daily prices of beans are shown at the price of one tonne of black bean and chickpeas, but the price of green beans is only shown at the price of one pound. In the Yangon market, the daily prices of black gram and pigeon pea are shown in tonne, but the price of mung bean is only shown in viss, said a trader Ko Thet told to the Global New Light of Myanmar.
The price of Kayan Shwewah green gram rose by K600 per viss within five days, increasing K360,000 per tonne. In the same week, black gram and pigeon pea prices were increased by only K60,000 and K120,000 per tonne respectively.
Although the price of mung bean is rising in the Yangon pulse market, it is known that there is only little change in price in the Mandalay pulse market.
Among the green gram, the highly cultivated beans in the Kayan region fetch the highest price. Despite rising input and fuel prices, huge profits were being made due to the handsome prices and the great yield of green gram in the lower part of Myanmar, according to the beans and pulses market reports. — TWA/CT
