Gwa Chaung Bridge to be opened in Dec last week

The construction of the Gwa Chaung Bridge, which connects the Ayeyawady Region with Rakhine State, was completed and will be opened in the last week of December 2022. It is important for the smooth and fast flow of goods and the development of the tourism sector.
The Gwa Chaung Bridge construction was started on 18 November 2019, and the upper structure of the bridge is PC Girder and RC Girder reinforced concrete floor. The lower structure is reinforced concrete floor and the foundation of the bridge is reinforced concrete.
Gwa Chaung Bridge was built to connect Gwa in Rakhine state and Makyayngu village. It is an important bridge along the coastal circuit road of Singma-Ngwesaung-Chaungtha-Shwe Thaung Yan-Magyibin-Kyaukchun-Gwa from Ngayokekaung in Ayeyawady region to Gwa in Rakhine state.
With the construction of the Gwa Chaung Bridge, the socioeconomic lives of local people will be improved with a good transport link. Local products from Rakhine State can flow quickly and easily to Ayeyawady Region and Yangon Region.
Gwa Chaung Bridge is 1,398 feet and nine inches long with a 24 feet traffic lane and three feet and six inches sidewalk on each side. It is 20 feet above water level with an 85 feet wide waterway. It has a load capacity of 75 tonnes per vehicle. It was built at a cost of K8,980 million. — Nyein Thu (MNA)/KZL
